Rasp File Cleaver – Redwood Handle | Handcrafted One-of-a-Kind
This handcrafted rasp file cleaver is a bold, functional blade built from reclaimed American steel and premium natural materials. Every step of the process—from shaping the blade to fitting the handle and finishing the edge—is done entirely by hand, resulting in a knife that is as unique as it is capable.
The blade is forged from a reclaimed rasp file, a high-carbon steel known for its toughness and edge retention. The original rasp pattern has been partially preserved along the spine, creating a striking textured finish that highlights the steel’s history while giving the knife a rugged, distinctive look.
The handle is crafted from beautiful redwood, chosen for its rich color and natural character. White liners create a clean contrast between the steel and wood, while solid brass pins secure the scales and add a classic, durable touch. The handle is shaped for a comfortable grip and balanced feel, making the knife equally suited for work or display.
Included with the knife is a handmade Herman Oak leather sheath, dyed brown and built in a vertical carry style. Herman Oak leather is widely regarded as one of the finest vegetable-tanned leathers produced in the United States, known for its strength, durability, and the way it develops character with age.
The result is a knife that blends rugged utility with craftsmanship and artistry—a piece that can be carried, used, and appreciated for years to come.
No two knives I make are ever the same.
