Rasp File Skinner – Elk Handle | Handmade One-of-a-Kind
This handcrafted rasp file skinner is built for performance in the field while showcasing the natural beauty of premium materials. Like every knife I make, this piece is completely handmade from start to finish using only high-quality American-made materials.
The blade is forged from a reclaimed American rasp file, a high-carbon steel known for its toughness and excellent edge retention. Repurposing this steel creates a blade that is not only strong and reliable but also carries the character of the original tool it came from.
The handle is crafted from natural elk, giving the knife a rugged and authentic look that pairs perfectly with the working design of a skinner. Elk provides a solid, comfortable grip and makes each knife unique due to the natural variations in texture and color. Solid brass pins secure the handle and add a classic touch that complements the natural materials.
Included with the knife is a handmade Herman Oak leather sheath, dyed black and built for vertical belt carry. Herman Oak leather is widely respected as one of the finest vegetable-tanned leathers produced in the United States, known for its durability, structure, and the rich patina it develops with use over time.
From forging and heat treating the blade to shaping the handle and crafting the sheath, every step of the process is done by hand. The result is a knife designed to perform when it matters most while also standing out as a one-of-a-kind piece of craftsmanship.
Each knife I create is unique—once it’s sold, it will never be duplicated.
